Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the AltTextAPI service (“Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

AltTextAPI provides an AI-powered API that generates alternative text descriptions for images. The Service is available via a REST API and a JavaScript widget. We offer free and paid subscription plans with different usage limits.

3. Account Registration

To use the Service, you must create an account with a valid email address and password. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your API keys and account credentials. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

4. API Keys

  • API keys are displayed once upon creation and cannot be recovered.
  • You are responsible for securing your API keys. Do not share them publicly or embed them in client-side code without understanding the risks.
  • If you believe your key has been compromised, revoke it immediately from your dashboard.
  • We reserve the right to revoke keys that are used in violation of these Terms.

5. Usage Limits

Each plan has a monthly image processing limit. Usage resets at the beginning of each calendar month (UTC). Unused credits do not roll over. Current plan limits are:

  • Free: 50 images/month
  • Pro ($9/month): 1,000 images/month
  • Business ($19/month): 5,000 images/month
  • Agency ($49/month): Unlimited

6. Rate Limits

API requests are rate-limited to 60 requests per minute per IP address. Authentication endpoints are limited to 5 requests per minute. Exceeding rate limits will result in temporary throttling (HTTP 429).

7. Billing and Payments

  • Paid plans are billed monthly through LemonSqueezy, our payment processor.
  • You may cancel your subscription at any time. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period.
  • Prices may change with 30 days' notice to existing subscribers.

8. Refund Policy

We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on all paid plans. If you are not satisfied with the Service within 30 days of your first paid subscription, contact us for a full refund. After 30 days, refunds are issued at our discretion.

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to process illegal, harmful, or exploitative content
  • Attempt to circumvent rate limits, usage quotas, or security measures
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the AI model
  • Resell the Service without authorization
  • Use the Service in a way that could harm, disable, or overburden our infrastructure
  • Submit images that contain private personal information of others without consent

10. AI-Generated Content

Alt text generated by the Service is produced by artificial intelligence and may not always be accurate. You are responsible for reviewing and editing generated alt text before use in production, especially for compliance-critical applications. We do not guarantee that generated alt text will meet all legal accessibility requirements in all jurisdictions.

11. Intellectual Property

You retain all rights to your images. Alt text generated through the Service is owned by you. We do not use your images to train AI models. We retain the right to use anonymized, aggregate usage statistics to improve the Service.

12. Service Availability

We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We are not liable for downtime, data loss, or service interruptions. We may perform maintenance with or without notice.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, AltTextAPI shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or business opportunities. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

14. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, your API keys will be revoked and your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

15. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
